Fake tanning is the quickest way to lose 5kg and tone up. Not really, but bloody hell it feels amazing!
But what happens when your skin is so dry that you end up looking like a cheetah?
Well, after suffering from eczema since I was a baby and having skin drier than the Sahara Desert but developing a fake tan addiction in middle school, I’ve found a few ways to help reduce the patchiness.
Step 1: A week out from when you want to tan start applying excessive amounts of moisturiser. Make sure you’re applying it morning and night, and I suggest using a thicker more creamy one at night. This way your skin will have peak hydration come tan day.
Step 2: Exfoliate and shave the night before or the morning of the day you plan to tan. Use an exfoliant and/or a mitt and do a really good, precise shave. After you’ve shaved use my homemade
scrub to buff the skin and pat dry with a clean towel when you get out of the shower. Moisturise with your nighttime moisturiser.
TIP: Make sure your skin feels supple and hydrated but that it has all sunk in and your skin isn’t greasy before you tan.
Step 3: Tan time! These are my top 2 tans for people with dry skin:

Step 4: Sleep in your tan and make sure you are wearing full-length pyjamas tucked into loose socks if you can.
Step 5: Rinse it off in the morning but DO NOT use soap or scrub your skin. Pat dry. Also, don’t wash your hair because the shampoo is like using soap.
Step 6: MOISTURISE! I love using the Bangn Body Illuminating Firming Lotion because it gives a gorgeous glow to your skin as well.
And that’s it! Make sure you’re still moisturising every day if you want your tan to last longer use a dry tanning oil once a day or every two days in the morning. The Bondi Sands Liquid Gold one is heaven and drys super quickly.
